Pirate weekend on the Santa MariaMay 15th and 16th - 2010 (tentative date)The second spring gathering!Over the weekend of Saturday May the 15th and Sunday May 16th of 2010 (tentative date), a group of historical re-enactors and other piratical entusiasts will be taking over the full size replica of the Santa Maria floating on the Scioto River in downtown Columbus Ohio. Come join us for a weekend of historic entertainment and excitment onboard a full sized historic sailing ship. Battle re-enactments are scheduled for both days, these will likely take place early in the afternoon (TBD). Come take a tour of the ship and learn what life was like in the late 17th and early 18th century at the height of Carribean piracy as compared to the late 15th centurty when Columbus made his historic journey across the Atlantic. Last spring we had over 30 re-enactors participate from as widely varied places as: Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri and even a couple from Florida on top of all the Ohioans present. We are very much hoping to exceed the last gathering with this one! It should not be missed! ![]() A group photo, of most of the participants at the Sept 2009 pirate re-enactment on board the Santa Maria |
